When I first purchased the unit I charged it up, then went on to try some of the features.1) Air compressor: The air compressor is easy to use, but the length of the hose is a problem. I couldn’t reach one of the nipples because my wheel was rotated so that the nipple was on the top of the wheel. Weighing in at over 20lbs, I wouldn’t want to be holding this for any lengthy period. It should also be noted that the hose cannot be changed. This means that should the hose start leaking, the compressor would no longer be serviceable. The compressor was slow, and inaccurate. Set at 35psi, I ended up with 33, 33, 29, 37.2) The inverter: Man was I disappointed!!! Buyer beware, this thing is VERY POOR QUALITY. So I started by plugging in 1 single lamp, driven by a 3W led bulb. It worked perfectly, the screen also indicated the power draw, which is a nice feature, but from a 3W bulb the screen indicated 65W of draw. Clearly inaccurate, but still, I was happy with the result, that was until the light inexplicably shut off by itself. Knowing a thing or two about electrical and electronics, I knew that the bulb could not possible have “burned out” so I shut the inverter of and tried to turn it on again 15 mins later, as indicated in the manual. Nothing happened, so I tried a few other electronic peripherals including ; a camp fridge, a phone charger, Christmas lights, a small vacuume, and a fan. To my surprise none of them worked! But how could this be? The unit was fully charged and had only been used under minimal load for a mere 3 minutes! To my surprise, there was no reset button, and no fuse to replace, something commonly found on standalone inverters. I waited a day to see if the problem would resolve itself, thinking that perhaps the machine had some kind of unmentioned timed overload protector, but nothing materialized, the inverter was dead!3) USB ports: This is nice to have and often is overlooked, but the 3.1amp USB ports work well, and charge a phone quickly.4) Jump Starter: At 2800 amps, this thing could probably start whatever is thrown at it. Although, this thing really shows it’s poor build quality when you use the jump starter. For 1, the jumper cables are incredibly short, too short in fact. This is a problem for 2 reasons, the cables could get pulled from the connector while jumping if the engine moves, and also the base of the unit is hard plastic with no rubber footing for grip. In addition, the cables use a proprietary connection so you cannot simply use longer third party cables. The female connector on the power pack itself seems to be of decent quality, but the male end on the cable is flimsy, brittle, plastic that will almost certainly snap in cold weather. Once you’ve made the necessary connections, the rest of the process is simple, turn a knob and the unit will start to deliver power to the vehicle. The powerpack can be activated in jump mode whilst the lights in the back of the unit are illuminated, something most units do not offer. The unit also displays information on the screen, and beeps while in jump mode. One thing I noted was that the beep itself kept changing volume and also octave, a sign of poor quality, nevertheless, the powerpack was able to jump start my vehicle (3L diesel @ 7°C) with no issue. After the jump, I shut off the jump start mode and stayed connected while I ran the alternator check. Nothing came up on The powerpack screen so I am assuming that indicates all is well. One note, a while after jump starting, there was an electrical overheating smell emitted from the machine. This however, only became apparent about 10 mins after I had used the jump start. This is worrisome as it indicates there is some form of electrical resistance happening inside the unit even after use.Overall; I don’t think I can recommend this unit. After checking reviews online, it seems that most buyers have problems with the inverter, and also with the cables snapping after only a few uses. I have a jump starter from 2004, with a built in 400w inverter. It’s made by “eliminator” and still works to this day. Perhaps the unit I recieved was a “dud” but it seems that more often than not, people purchasing this unit, are having the same problem. I will be exchanging the unit, for the same, and if that fails I will go back to the eliminator brand.
